Hello and welcome to the game, guys! Each couple has been presented with an infant (or two) and situations involving the child(ren) will arise throughout the game. New siblings will eventually be born and surprises will happen along the way. I, essentially, play the children and the circumstances, and you must reply with a response, one which is completely up to you. Have fun and write as much as you'd like!
[Sydney Rose] Ingrid & James
First names: Have a subtle theme
Middle names: Nature
Behind a thin blue curtain, a soft cry emerged. Ingrid's view had been blocked, but she could hear his voice for the first time. Bright pink and healthy, the little boy took his first breath out of the womb, before being wrapped up and held by daddy right into his mother's view. He was lovely, with big, pleading blue eyes much like his father's, and a head full of wispy brown hair. Merely moments later, a second cry pierced the air. The baby's replica - his mirror image - had just entered to world, with lungs as strong as his brother. They shared the same cherubic features, from the top of their heads to the tip of their tiny little toes. It was nearly impossible to tell them apart.
The first few weeks at home were not for the faint of heart. Not only were the new parents barely getting enough sleep to survive, but not getting the babies mixed up was a lot tougher than Ingrid and James had originally thought. One night, after almost giving the wrong baby a dose of cough medicine, they decided something had to be done in order to save their - and their babies' - sanity. How would they get used to the nearly imperceptible differences between a child and his "reflection"?

First name: Meaning/related to "hero"
Middle name: Classic
With his honey-tinted eyes still cloudy from their first attempt at sight, the newborn looked around as he rose out of the water he had just been born into. Silent but observant, the child now snuggled against his mother’s chest, immediately rooting for nurture. His tiny, still-damp hand curled against her neck, reaching. This gentle, quiet nature would continue a part of him as the infant grew from a helpless newborn into a mobile, curious baby.
At only a few months of age, the little guy began to show precocious signs of empathy. He could feel it when mommy or daddy were upset, and it tended to cause tears to swell up in his own eyes. Seeing his mother cry would cause him to panic and become restless, stroking her hair or wrapping his tiny arms around her neck in an attempt to "comfort" her. It seemed like he knew she would need it too, after an unfortunate miscarriage took away their second child when their firstborn was only six months old. Although the pregnancy itself had been unplanned, the loss took on an emotional toll.

First name: Frilly & girly
Middle name: Nature
Born after a long and strenuous labor, this little girl arrived into the world with a strident cry. In the doctor's hands she was held, healthy and pink from screaming, before being placed in her mother's arms, where her desperate tears were reduced to an indignant little pout. She looked around curiously but cautiously, evaluating the new environment around her. Born with a desire for attention, this adorable little girl would grow to make dramatic appearances, and her birth was no exception. The child made an entrance and demanded applause.
Her first few months were bittersweet, with the baby being extremely colicky and bursting into tears at the drop of a hat. She refused to sleep through the night and wanted to be held by mommy (and ONLY mommy!) at all times. It was stressful and demanding for both her parents, but nevertheless rewarding when she would give them her heart-melting toothless grin.

First name: Literary
Middle name: Biblical
She arrived gently, quietly into this world, caught in her father's arms at home, curling into his chest with eyes swelling up with tears — yet she did not make a sound. Perfectly rosy, with a headful of downy blonde hair, she opened her eyes for the first time, and they twinkled in a cloudy shade of dark blue.
She was a shy little baby, albeit very docile. She would pout if held by anyone other than her parents, and only whimper softly, never really crying. At a few months of age, her eyes began to turn into a soft brown color, leaving behind the blue that showed up at birth. She loved to be cuddled and read to, and although her smiles were precious but rare, she was an overall easy infant.
[Kelly-Shea] Luella & Frederick
First name: French
Middle name: Bird related
The shrill scream of his newborn daughter reverberated against his eardrum as Frederick looked to the backseat of the car. The sight was both heartwarming and terrifying at the same time; His wife cradling their just born infant in her arms, the little one still bloody and attached to the umbilical cord. They had been on their way to the hospital.
She was darling, with adorably chubby cheeks and a lovely head of light brown hair. Despite the frightening moment of her birth, after arriving at the hospital it was confirmed that both mom and baby were completely healthy, and now just needed some rest. As Frederick and Luella cuddled with the little girl at the end of such a long day, they looked down at her doll-like face, with her big brown eyes looking up intensely at them – and they could have sworn that she smiled right at them.

“Not even stars last forever…” Lucas whispered, the night sky reflected in his baby blue eyes. He had been lying on the grass for a while now, his new fuzzy kitten curled up on his chest, softly purring. The tiny cat had been a gift from his parents – a sort of therapy perhaps – to help the child move on from the trauma of the past. Having an understanding of the world far beyond what is expected of his age, the loss of his baby sister had hit him hard.
“Let’s go inside now.” Luc nodded, picking up the female kitten gently as he walked back into the house, smiling at his mother as he passed by her in the kitchen.
At dinnertime, Lucas was quiet. He played around with his food, taking maybe a bite or two before pushing away his plate and declaring himself full.
“Mama I’m going to bed.” He piped, getting up and pushing his chair in before heading towards his bedroom. He lied down on his bed and dozed off within minutes.
In the middle of the pitch-black night, before the sun had even had a chance to bestow its brightening upon the sky, the little boy woke up with a blood-curling scream. Although his eyes had been open, he was not really there. No matter what his parents did to help, they could not wake him – he just screamed and screamed desperately for hours, before finally settling back down to sleep, exhausted. Luc had been having night terrors ever since the baby’s passing.
The next morning, his mother’s voice and gentle stroking of his hair woke Lucas up. He blinked sleepily at her, his messy locks of hair sticking up in every direction.
As his mom brushed his hair and got him dressed and ready, Luc frowned at himself in the mirror. “I know I’m four now and all, mama, but do I really have to go to school?” He shifted his feet nervously. “What if they don’t like me?” His eyes shone earnestly at his mother.
He cried a little into her shoulder, melting into the comfort of her arms as she reassured him that everything would be okay.
As Amelia gave Luc one last kiss before leaving him at preschool for the day, the child, although wrapped in his own fears, smiled. Everything would be okay – mommy said so.
“Okay class, so now let’s sit in a circle here.” The smiley teacher chirped, gathering the little ones onto a colorful mat. “We’re going to introduce ourselves now. Everyone will say a little about him or herself so the rest of the class can get to know you.” She urged a little girl who was sitting next to her to start.
“Muh..my name is Abby. I’m four and I have two dogs and a bird and a sister. My sister is seven.” The little girl said shyly, her words uttered in a typical four-year-old accent.
“I’m Dwake.” The next little boy said, grinning. “Drake” was his name, of course, but he still had trouble pronouncing his Rs. “I’m almost fou’. “
And so it went, child by child speaking a little bit about him or herself, until finally it got to Luc’s turn.
“Um. My name is Luc. I’m four years old. I have a kitten. I have a baby sister too. But she’s in heaven.” He paused. “But I still talk to her sometimes.” His lips curled into a soft smile.
There was a moment of silence in the room, and then one impish little boy, a face covered in orange freckles, smirked sarcastically. “You talk to a ZOMBIE?!” The class roared with laughter.
Luc became red. The teacher tried to calm the children down, but they seemed to find it hilarious.
Luc’s fists clenched, his body shaking in anger. In a blur of seconds that no one could have predicted, he charged at the boy who had made the comment, tackling him to the ground and staring coldly into his eyes. “She is NOT a zombie!” His eyes filled with tears.
He breathed heavily as the child beneath him clawed at Luc’s face in an attempt to escape from his death-grip, leaving him with a bloody scratch above his eye. After the teacher managed to separate the two boys, Luc was then sent to the principal’s office to be picked up by a parent. The minutes seemed like hours as he sat down waiting, his thoughts racing furiously.
When his mother finally arrived at school, Luc burst into tears, burying his face into her chest. “Mama I didn’t mean to! I just..he called her a zombie.” He sobbed. “B-but but why mommy? Why do people have to die? I don’t want you to die mama!” He hiccupped, his face bright red from crying so hard. It was then that the school counselor suggested Luc’s mother take him to see a child psychologist.
Amelia's strength crumbled beneath her as she hugged her son. Overwhelmed by all of this, she put a hand over her belly and cried. How on earth, with all of this happening, would she tell her child that he was going to have a new sibling?
